PC GAMING SHOW 2016
The PC Gaming Show was just the start of a crazy week in which we revealed the Space Marines in our first ever showing of Dawn of War III gameplay! Watch it here!
The venue was the Ace Hotel Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, and I must say that it lived up to the grimdark theme that is Warhammer 40,000. Medieval awnings, red tones and overall darkness - it was a perfect setting for our team to feel at home. There were even skulls on the ceiling and flickering lights!
We opened the show and literally came out swinging! Game Director Phillipe Boulle and Brent Disbrow, our Campaign Lead, arrived on stage flanked by our very own Space Marine, much to host Day9’s amusement.
The talented team at Legacy Effects were responsible for sprucing up the costume for the occasion. He stood almost 8 feet tall and was equipped with their signature Chainsword and glowing eyes. Check out their other work here!
We got to hang out with the Space Marine backstage, and even hit the streets of downtown LA. Luckily, he didn’t saw us in half with his Chainsword while we took photographs.
E3 TUESDAY - THURSDAY
Our E3 experience started a day early, as Brent Disbrow, Campaign Lead, hit another stage on Monday to show off more exclusive footage at YouTube’s E3 Live Show! Here, we unveiled never-before-seen units including a Thunderhawk transport dropping off the explosive Whirlwind tank. We also showed what happens when the Space Marines come out guns blazing as Deathstorm drop pods released a barrage from their automated turrets.
Tuesday saw the start of E3 and we were there to witness the massive lineup heading into the venue. More than 50,300 people attended E3 this year ready to play the newest games on the floors of the Los Angeles Convention Centre!
Behind closed doors, we introduced press, YouTubers, and streamers to Dawn of War III. We will be showing off some of the behind the scenes in our very own video which will be posted soon. Make sure you are following our YouTube channel to be the first to see it!
Before I sign off, I want to thank you for your support. When we released our gameplay, we received an overwhelmingly positive response and great feedback. Between the return of Gabriel Angelos and basebuilding, and the introduction of new Elite heroes, we are so happy to finally show you what we have been working on! Let us know what you think in our forums, and look forward to more exciting reveals to come over the next year! Thank you so much for taking this journey with us!
We were on so many live streams, it was hard for us to even keep track of! Here is a breakdown of all the live shows, developer interviews, and news articles to come out of E3!
